Adjective
- Undefiled, Untainted, Pure
The namesake of our company comes from the translated spelling of the same word in Greek, αμίαντος. Originally, the term was used to describe something that was free from impurity or steadfast in its form. Over time it was then adapted to describe the multi-functional family of minerals that were mined nearby and that are known to not change their composition despite external influences: Asbestos.
Due to its reselience as a material, asbestos was used in many applications ranging from clothing to cookware, and namely in the production of fire resistant building materials. When the detrimental health impacts of asbestos became public knowledge and the substance was regulated, a decades long mission of mitigation and abatement had begun.
It is our goal as a laboratory to asisst our local communities and the industrial health industry in the mission of purifying the community of asbestos to minimize public health risk.
